Context:
As part of the Annual Work Plan (AWP) of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD), the Directorate of Climate and Green Economy (DCEV) organized a workshop on December 26 and 27, 2024, in Nouakchott.
Participants
Local elected officials from all the wilayas of Nouakchott and from the interior of the country participated in this workshop.
Objective
Strengthen the understanding and ownership of climate change issues by local elected officials in territorial development plans and policies.

• General introduction to climate change
• Presentation of the Paris Agreement
• Climate mapping of adaptation and mitigation in Mauritania
• Presentation of the CBIT and BTR projects
• Reflections and discussions on integrating climate into local planning
• Practical exercises and sharing of experiences between provinces
