Objective

Assess the environmental and social risks and impacts related to the extension works (construction of new offices, training center, facade rehabilitation, outdoor arrangements), and propose concrete measures to prevent, mitigate, or compensate for the negative effects of the project, while maximizing its positive outcomes on environmental and social levels.

  • Identification and assessment of environmental and social risks (waste management, worker safety, nuisances, climate risks, etc.) during the construction and operation phases;
  • Development of an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) in accordance with Mauritanian legislation and the environmental and social standards of the World Bank, including:
    • Mitigation and enhancement measures for impacts;
    • Institutional implementation framework;
    • Monitoring and evaluation mechanism;
    • Execution schedule and projected budget.

Results achieved.

  • Obtaining the environmental and social feasibility opinion issued by the ministry in charge of the Environment;
  • Compliance ensured with national requirements and the environmental and social standards of the World Bank;
